  STRONGBACK CHANNEL

(A “Strongback” is generally a pair of channel back to back.)

Aluminum Strongback Channel is generally used in vertical wallform, as a pair, back-to-back, connected via a Steel Tie Plate.  Through the center of the Tie Plate is a through-the-wall bolt arrangement that secures both wallforms in place. The picture to the left above show the end of a single Strongback Channel fastened to a Splice Plate.

Given its strength, the choice of an aluminum Strongback minimizes the total number of members required on the job compared to wood.  Since aluminum is lightweight compared to steel, the contractor realizes labor productivity through ease of use.

Aluminum Strongback has been the choice of cost conscientious contractors who have ‘weighed’ all the alternatives.
